We have jurors
Progress was made today in Gastonia. Five folks officially were seated to be jurors in the Jerry Anderson murder trial. That means we are getting closer to the evidence and testimony part of the trial. I can't wait.
However, we can't get our hopes up. I spoke with Robert Campbell today, one or Jerry's attorneys (since I can't be down there), and he says they don't expect to be finished by this week. So maybe by the end of next week. I'm excited. I'm ready for it. Maybe not as much as Jerry, his supports and Emily's family and her supporters. We all just have to be patient. The truth will come out.

Regarding your last few sentences, I wish someone would explain why Jerry's supporters and Emily's supporters are two different groups of people. From the time Jerry went to jail, there were sides drawn. Rumors were spread and even Jerry hinted of wrongdoing on Emily's part, according to a newspaper article. Suddenly Emily's every flaw was exposed and some put the blame for this crime on Emily. Emily was the victim. Why are people taking sides against her? Can't a person be on both sides? Even Jerry hasn't taken Emily's side, which adds more suspiscion, if you ask me. I don't hear him saying anything about missing her or mourning her loss. I don't hear his supporters mourning her either. The fact that Anderson friends are taking sides either for Emily or Jerry makes this look less like a capital murder trial look more like a divorce. We have to remember that Emily is dead. She didn't go looking for trouble or looking to be killed. She is the victim. Everyone, even Jerry and his most loyal supporters, should be on Emily's side too.
Do not believe everything you read in newspaper articles - you have to remember that you are only reading one person's perception. I am unaware as a citizen and resident of Caldwell County of anyone exposing Emily's flaws and I've heard nothing of wrongdoing on the part of Emily or Jerry, for that matter. The only wrongdoing seems to be a rush to arrest on the part of the Caldwell County Sheriff's department. The evidence of the murder was contaminated when the truck was driven from SC to NC instead of being secured. The State is faced with a difficult task in disproving the presumption that the evidence failed to follow a proper chain of custody. The sad fact is that we may never learn the truth due to poor investigative procedures.
pantherblue,
If you read the newspaper article from the Lenoir News Topic dated Jan. 6, 2006, you will see that Jerry begins to paint a picture of a wrongdoing on Emily's part. In the interview with the reporter he mentions that Emily is trustworthy and that she might have crossed the wrong person. Close to the end of the article he says that whatever is wrong they can work it out. There are several other statements of Jerry's that are disturbing in that same article. Those things have nothing to do with perception of the reporter. They are things Jerry is quoted as saying.
As for the other rumors and exposing of Emily's flaws, check back on some of the forums or ask yourself if you heard negative rumors about Emily before she was found and before Jerry was arrested.
