I would say there was at least 10 not guiltys. I just really hate it for both side of the families. No closure nothing resolved. What a shame.

I think he is guilty, but my personal opinion aside, I have a hard time believing they would retry this case knowing they had 10 or 11 not-guilty votes.

I think 11 to 1. Not guilty to guilty.

People are innocent until proven guilty.

Jerry should not have been in jail in the first place. I just don't see that there was enough evidence there to place in jail.

Now hopefully the prosecution will be smart enough to decide to drop the charge!

Well here goes more money wasted in our state (knowing we are next to the poorest state) with an dumbass DA (couldnt abbreviate cauce both have the same initials.
What evidence that wasn't gathered it is really going to be hard to prove anything now.. the defense will be tougher and the prosecution well maybe still in lala land.

well, all I know is I'm avoiding Sawmills School road and Dry Ponds Road this weekend. With everyone's emotions running out of control,no telling what might happen in that area if he meets bond.

why do you say that Lisa, when it has been reported that half the people of sawmills believe in his innocence? You shouldnt be saying stuff like that anyway. If he was guilty he would have been found guilty. There just wasnt enough evidence. and besides, i dont think he will be going back to the residence anyway, he will probably stay with family of friends. Wouldnt you?

I think the local authorities thought this case would be tried here in Caldwell County, and figured that they'd done a good enough job of gathering evidence for the folks around here...considering the high emotions involved. However, since the venue was changed, and the folks in Gaston County don't have a vested interest in this case....the evidence wasn't strong enough.
The majority of folks in this area all believe him to be guilty...I just hope that people remain calm and don't do anything foolish or downright stupid.

People - I know emotions are high and everyone has their opinion, but don't be ugly and rude to one another. Now is the time to pull together use this experience to make our town stronger and better. Also remember, at this point no one really knows 100% the TRUTH but 1 person. The Lord knows and he will take care of whoever did this in his time.

I didn't say one way or the other about how ppl feel about the verdict Teresa. I said that because some believe in his guilt and others do not. Because of that people could start something in that area. His farm is closed so I don't expect him to go back there. I figure he would probably stay with friends in the area or with someone from the church.

sawmills cititzen that is very true but that is also when you have to remember what and who you go to church for. Church is not a political trap - church is a place where we go to Worship our Lord. If dpbc splits over this or something smaller then some peoples hearts may not be in the right place

Gertie...The book you use in church says "judge not,and ye shall not be judged"....Name dropping like you do is a shame..Why don't you put your real name in here so crazy people can look you up and do something terrible if they wanted to??? Your name dropping is uncalled for..I'll bet you know everything...If you do then go visit Sheriff Jones and fill him in on the "GUILTY" things you are privy to.That way we can all rest assured he is guilty....You know nothing....You make assumptions, thats all you can do....By the way the other day you said you would not return anymore because it hurt you too much....Well well I suppose your little busy body self could just not refrain.....HMMMMMMMMMM.....Just an assumption on my part.....Sorry...I found you guilty of being prejudgiced and a busy body...Shame on me....Maybe this Sunday when you go to church you can ask for forgiveness as you put your tithe into the collection plate..I suppose you justify your thoughts in your mind as womens intuition????
I suggest that anyone with the proof of guilt visit Sheriff Jones..They need the information...They are to blame for the outcome of this trial...No-one else..Now that it ends this way it pisses off the ones adament in his guilt and his innocence..So to appease yourselves you fight and argue on a media device...That in itself would make a good "blog" don't ya think...And the beat goes on and on.....and on...
This has been a most enjoyable forum...I look forward to meet all of you again at the next trial...Thanks to the efforts of Jennifer Menster we have all found an outlet of some sort...She is to be commended for her work,by all of those who have posted a blog here...If not for her it would have been impossible...Would'nt you agree????
Thanks Jennifer...........

Sawmills citizen-Believe what you want...I am a member at Dry Ponds and I didn't know EA or JA personally. (There are 500 + members) and I haven't lived in Caldwell Co but for 5 years. I am only speaking for myself - for that's all I can speak for- but any mention of the case I have witnessed is prayer of justice, the families, and our community. The PEOPLE that make up the church have their own opinions like anyone else, and just like here on this blog those opinions vary. I do not go to church to discuss or get updates on this trial, it is but one of many prayer request found on our Sunday morning bulletins. In fact one of the main focuses of DPBC right now is the community and how the church can work together to bring the community together. Please feel free to come and be apart of something other than this trial. This community is not divided into "sides" as some of the comments made on this blog suggest. I will plead to those of us who live here to use our efforts on making this a better place to live rather than sit back, criticize, and do nothing. If not at DPBC then in your own, positive way.

cjsmtn4--he has not been PROVEN guilty either (that is the responsibilty of the prosecution)! Don't you think that they failed--MISERABLY? Surely the penny-ante evidence doesn't have you convinced he is guilty. I truly don't know either way, but what I do know is that he will never be convicted and I honestly don't think he will ever be acquitted. So what that means in my mind is that we all lose- if he did it--he is going to get away with it, if he did not do it--there is a killer possibly still in Caldwell County that could kill again. And the really sad thing is if he (JA) did not kill his wife and he is a true victim of the fumblings of a incompetent law enforcement agency, he will never, ever have a normal life again. He will never be acquitted--in some peoples mind he will always be a killer. Could you imagine being him and being innocent and having to live with that the rest of his life? You people need to dig a little deeper into the subconscious where your mamas taught you right from wrong, and see the the whole picture here. It's time for a change in the DA's office. And if the current Sheriff of Caldwell County promotes idiots like the lead investigator of this case to MAJOR (remember, he testified he should have handled things differenty, several times over), we also need a new SHERIFF and quick before there is another murder.

Eavesdropping thank you for standing up for our church. I also agree that our church hasn't split over this trial. I think that our congregation is very strong and close. I know that me and my family always enjoy spending time with our church family outside of the services as well as in the services. I really enjoy the new contemporary service. Just hate that the people around the county have the impression that we will split. I have been at dpbc since I was a teenager and I love it there. If any of you are looking for a new church we would love for you to visit our church. We always welcome new people.

The congregation is probably split about it. But they keep it to themselves.

to all of the people that have been on this blog, I want to invite you to come and worship with Dry Ponds on Sunday. Or any worship service Sunday or Wednesdays. Our job at this church and all churches I pray is put GOD first and everything else will follow. If you can not come and worship with us on Sunday, be in any church on Sunday. As I sit here and read this I just wonder what Emily is thinking about all on this. Only the people who where there when she died and God knows. God's word states " he called us here as witnesses, not judges or jury "that is his job and who ever killed Emily they WILL meet their maker with that. In closing I would like to say that as far as the church goes I am sure people are split in their opinions but we DON'T go church to talk about JA or EA only about worshiping the KING on KINGS. ALL is welcome, come Sunday and give us a visit. Emily may you rest in peace now.
