The day is over
Well, I don't have much to say. We are done for the day. After the break, Dubs said their next witnesses were coming by plane and won't be here until Monday. So, we recessed for the day. It was a pretty interesting day. The tables are turned. The defense is putting up its witnesses and the prosecution is trying to disprove them. We might have a few interesting weeks ahead of us. I have a feeling a delibration will come soon. Can you believe all this began June 8? It's July 6. Wow. All righty, I am going to start working on my stories for this weekend's papers. Have a great weekend.

Again the Keystone Cops do not follow leads on this investigation. Who was the "Mullet Man" ??? Why not return to verify the day and time Mr. Ramsey saw Jerry??...."good Ole boy" forensics is my opinion...Chase the husband and get a little bit on him and nail him, forget anyone else us "good Ole Boys" will fry his butt.
Well oiled tools left in a truck tool box will not rust. A truck toolbox of any make is not airtight even if rubber washers are used to mount it..Air will get in and stay in simply by opening and closing, it is not a vaccum enclosure. I seriously doubt flies could get in with the lid closed although I doubt there was a rubber seal on the lid. The picture of the toolbox showed it was purchased at Tractor Supply they are not sealed with rubber. I also agree that a stomach wrenching stench would come from the box upon approach by the Keystone Cops when the truck had been discovered after the body being there for nine days regardless of the temperature..Afternoon sun would heat the contents of the box to a considerable level than the outside air temperature which in turn would cause decay at a higher rate....
In my opinion Ms. Dubs has done a great job in letting the prosecution make fools of themselves...
Again I have just enacted my first amendment rights.....Even if I am wrong...Thanks
Thanks for the explanation on the toolbox Craig. I don't have a toolbox so I wasn't sure about that airtight business.
I just can't believe the state brought this case to a jury. I know there was political pressure to make an arrest, but that rush to judgment has caused a public loss of confidence in the sheriff's office. The next races for Sheriff and District Attorney should be interesting.
Someone correct me if I am wrong, but is it true that once that truck was parked at the Waffle House it was never moved again? If so, then if Emily wasn't killed on the 29th, but at a later date, then how does someone get her body in that toolbox at a Waffle House and truck stop that is open 24 hours and no one sees that? That just seems kind of odd to me. By no means has the prosecution proved their case, but their are some questions that the defense could answer too.
We do not know whether anyone was around the truck after it was parked at the Waffle House because the security cameras at the Waffle House and the motel across the street did not pick up the part of the lot where the truck was parked with a flat tire. The security tapes that were made were released to Caldwell County Sheriff Dept. but no one ever looked at them and no one knows where they are at the time of trial. Surprised?
Twelve people will decide Anderson's fate, they have heard all the testimony and the facts as presented.
If the jurors have as many different opinions as are expressed on this blog, I forsee a hung jury.
craig,
I totally agree with your theory, but I have to disagree with ne thing, this was the middle of winter when she was in the tool box, not the middle of summer!
Their is a hue difference in the summer and winter of a decomposing body!
Summer heat wiuld allow for decomposing to start almost immediately even though the body was not exposed to the elements directly.
You are right about the tool box not being sealed air tight, knowing this because I have one myself from Tractor Suppply, and by all means water leaks occassionally and tools seem to rust no matter what. I mean could you even imagine the stench that would come from it in the summer heat?!?! Unbearable to a point that I would thin kthat even after a couple of days the stench would be so putrid that the pblic would notice at some point!
The problem I have with this so called investigation about the body not decomposing is that this was the middle of winter, cold, no heat what so ever. The cold as we all now preserves a body. And with the body being protected from the outside elements, and being in a metal tool box, that is even more cold than usual. The metal would contain the outside cold, meaning that the tool box probably held the cold better than most other things that were left out side.
We all now that in every hospital that there is a morgue and in every morgue is a regrigerated cooler to contain bodies until other wise released.
The cold basically preserved her body and with what little blood the body probably had left this left the body in even better shape from decomposing because their was hardly any blood to freeze and settle causing no purging, desquamation (skin slip), green discoloration odors, gases, dehydration, lng and stomach purge, and with the body having extensive gunshots to the abdominal and thoracic cavities, their should have been both lung and stomach purge and so on.....even refriderated bodies have a much slower rate of decomposition which slows the progress of rigor mortis, and maintains the blood in a liquid state.
So with this, it would be hard for the forensic pathologists to determine the exact time of death. Cold will preserve, and who ever killed Miss Emily, had the winter time in their advantage!
In this crime, Emily was a gunshot victim.
And again, I am like the rest of you, if she was so called killed at the hotel, why didn't any one hear gunshots? Where are the survellance tapes, the eye witnesses from the hotel, why isn't their a room being investigated where she could have possibly been killed, and if this is the theory the defense is really operating on then why didn't any body see the murderer stuffing her into the tool box, especially this being a 24 hour place???? All this lingering questions I not only have but the rest of us. Things just are not adding up and this man may walk free of a crime he very well did!
You knwo it is funny too that how did the truck get to that parking lot over a hundred miles away form her home. Jerry very well could have drove it dumped it, and then caught a cab and headed back home. Could of had a complice to help him get back hime, caught a bus, what ever it so may have been.
The cell phone records indicate that he was in CC the whole time!!! Bull crap on that part for the fact that he could have left his phone at the farm, to make it look like he was really there when he really wasn't!
So you now, all in all this is the sloppiest case I have ever seen invstigated, and if this man walks free then CC is looking for a huge fight when Jerry sues for all this crap that has went on!
So sloppy and it makes me sick.....!
I will say that the Police did a lousy job of collecting and perserving evidence. However a lot of what is being posted here just wasn't what was presented in court. Never was it stated in court that the glasses were Emily's. Never was it stated in court that Jerry could account for the time 10:??AM to 4:??PM. I was in court and what I saw was Dubs doing a real good job of destroying the Caldwell County Police department. I suppose that is one way of defending your client. The matter of backdating the oil filters from 16 Jan 2006 to 29 Dec 2005 just may be Jerry's downfall. If he was involved in the murder, then why try to establish an alibi? This gives meaning to the phrase, "If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, then it's probably a duck".
I hope if I ever go missing I'll have someone who will do what for me what Pat Thrope did for her friend.
She has nothing to gain from testifing, but she did.
She seems to be one stand up lady.
I salute her.
Re-Lee--If you were in court all this time why did you not get all of us up to date on the facts--We got most of our information from this blog and also some of the local papers--You cannot pay much attention to the one local paper--The News-Topic appears to be the leading promoter of local bullcrap and if it was not for stories they pull of the news wire then they would not have a paper. It would have been nice if you would have provided us with a daily update on the facts so we could have more information to help with our theories on this case. The fact of the matter is if this guy walks out a free man no one can be blamed but "all the law enforcement" involved in this case. Notice I said all because it was not only the locals but also the SBI and others. As a former investigator and not from around here I was appalled at the many "it did not get done" statements from the "lead investigator" in this case. Probably a good man but for sure out of his league on a case of this nature.
James,
I too think Pat Thorpe is a wonderful person and a stand-up lady.....I married her 13 years ago and OH! it is not the first marriage for either of us. I am also a Vietnam Vet and it sickens me to know that someone was killed for no reason (maybe greed, or Hate)
Ret-Investigator,
Perhaps, I thought it better not to post to this forum until after the trial was over or at least until the State rested. You never know if or when you may be called to tell what you know. I have no idea how much experience you have with this kind of crime, but you seem to recognize the mistakes that were made in the investigation. I still say that the oil filters will stick in the jury's mind and they will question themselves about why Jerry needed to establish an alibi if he had nothing to hide. It bothers me that nothing was done to find out just who the other person is that was involved in providing transportation to SC or back from SC.
OH! I have posted to this site before, just a low profile.
Re: Lee--Now that you have told us basically that you are Pat Thorpe husband I can appreciate your maintaining a low profile. First let me say how proud you should be of Pat--Their friendship (Pat / Emily ) was one not many people have in today's world. Pat did a good job by taking notes during the phone conversation with Jerry. If only the investigators had done as good a job this case would have been over by now. Secondly, you may be correct that the oil filters may be Jerry's downfall. I caution you though even if the jury finds him guilty the appeals courts are going to have a field day with this case and all the hearsay evidence presented and the botched investigation. I have worked far more complex homicides than this and I have never seen anything like this in terms of the horrible job done by investigators. I know myself and others on this blog have been rough on the investigators but they simply did not do their job from the beginning. It all started with poor follow up on the leads from the missing person report and just snowballed from there. Thanks again for your comments from the courtroom and keep the faith.
so ramsey said he saw hem around ten maybe he went home and changed clothes.and yes i think he had help someone had to have helped in geting her to sc. the paper stated there was a van found on the farm what about it .i don`t think it was hers it was sopostedly heed.
