Asking for more evidence
Another request - second statement of Jerry Anderson, states exhibits 79-91, folder from defendant, phone books, Shelly Hartley's written phone number list, cell phone records of Emily and Jerry and autopsy report.
However, one statement of Jerry Anderson, the one taken by Det. Bennett, was not entered as evidence. The hand written statement was given to jurors earlier in their first request. Also, Jerry's cell phone records were not entered as evidence. Photos 79-91 are photos of Emily Anderson. The folder is what the defense gave jurors on Tuesday with documents and papers in it.
And, the evidence goes back to the jury room. More deliberation. What does this mean? Are they covering all the bases? Are they deadlocked? Do six believe guilty and six not guilty? We don't know, unfortunately. Only they know what's going on. I will be back later.

Re Lee-
Based on past experience I believe the majority of the jury is leaning towards a conviction. This second request for evidence review is probably for one or two jurors who are holding out against voting along with the others for a conviction. Either this second batch of evidence will convince them or I could see a hung jury. Right now however I think the majority is leaning toward conviction. Do you know by chance who is the elected foreman of the jury? Is it the former police officer we heard was on the jury?
I was in the jury pool, but was dismissed on the 4th day of selection. I met the retired officer, he was actually a retired corrections officer. He was a very nice man. I believe if he is the foreman, he will make sure things are done strictly according to the law.
Dang--How many folks on here were in the jury pool. This makes two that have stated it. Why did you get dismissed for observeingfromadistance?
What I have always silently wondered: Maybe the killer himself is on here. He must be curious right?
No matter what the jury decides, the killer will burn in hell forever...gives you a warm/fuzzy feeling all over, doesnt it?
I had 2 family members murdered, their killer is on death row.........
re observingfromadistance:
I'm sorry that happened to your family members. Did this happen in the same county as this case?
obersvingfromadistance - Actually and I am sure that ret-invest would agree with me, most former and current corrections officers do not really know the law and what is required.
Gaston County
re soccerjox:
I agree with you that most corrections officers do not understand the law in general--They are mostly trained in what you can and cannot do to inmates in a correctional facility and the laws of incarceration. With that said some correctional officers become well versed in all aspects of the elements of a crime just from reading files of their prisoners or so forth.
The retired corrections officer also has several family members including a son who are active police officers and detectives, as well as a daughter in law who is an attorney. I would imagine he has some knowledge

I do not know about your religious beliefs but the Christian beliefs that I have been taught and believe in are that if whoever committed this crime or any crime sin etc... Confesses their sins and asks for forgiveness and prays the sinner’s prayer they will be forgiven and accepted into the Kingdom of Heaven.... I do not know about you but THAT gives me warm and fuzzy feelings. We as Christians should not rush to Judge but let the system work. We are also taught that we forgive. Turn the other cheek. I am not saying that you have to do that, it is hard every day to forgive.
Allison - the only way the killer could be on here is if JA has access to the internet from his jail cell!
Emily was a wonderful person and he deserves to rot in hell for what he did to her. From reading your other posts, you must be a friend of JA's. I've known Emily and her family for almost 30 years - she deserved better and the family deserves to be treated better than they have been by most of Emily's "friends" in Sawmills. And if you considered yourself one of her friends, then she deserves better from you than the garbage you've been posting.
ObservingFromADistance - Based on that statement - I have a sister who is a Doctor, she performs surgery on patients that need major surgery, I also have a brother that is an attorney, and I have a cousin who is a US Senator. So with said.... I guess I could operate on someone, then prepare a lawsuit against myself for Malpractice and then when that is done Pass a Bill in support of Malpractice laws.... That is being very facetious; my point is that just because you have family members that are experts in a certain field doesn’t make you one.

I was not refuting your staement about the corrections officers ability so I hope you did not take it that way. I'm not into these pissing contest that are going on between folks on this blog so just know I was expressing my opinion. Sounds like he is part of a law oriented family to me.
Well, with whatever knowledge he has accumulated from his years as a corrections officer, and from his family members, as well as the instructions received from the judge, my point was he will be fair. I didn't mean to imply he KNEW the law, only that he would follow it as fairly as possible according to what knowledge he does have, from all sources
If JA is the asshole some claim it does not make him a killer. EA has a questionable past. There are all kinds of theories. The investigation was a disgrace!
I'm really going to miss all this when this trial is over. You all have made this a very enjoyable blog and I look forward to reading the comments more than what Jennifer has to say. It's just too bad that we can't all get along and voice our opinion without being attacked.
There is one thing for certain, if I ever need a good defense lawyer, I'm calling lisa dubbs. In my opinion, the State and the CCSD have failed miserably not only in their investigations but also in their presentation of what little evidence they have.
If i were on the jury, i would have to say there is a huge shadow of doubt here. I would have to vote not guilty.
gertie, what none of Emily's friends recognize, is that maybe I'm doing more to help Emily than you give me credit for. If Mr. Anderson didn't do it, and he is convicted, then the real killer got way with it. Is that somehow helping Emily? Is that what she would have wanted?
Now we're bloggin' !!!
We have no idea what is going on with these jurors. I just know that I would not want the task that they are assigned with! Bless them all and hopefully they make the decesion based on the facts that were presented. There was a comment earlier about why Anderson did not testify. Any Attorney that is worth anything would never let their client testify. As you have heard throughout this whole case how issues can be turned on a dime, this has been the case in this court from both side. A good Atty will know how to twist and confuse and get their point to the jury even if the person is 100% innocent. It is all in how questions are asked.
I'm sure we'd all like to see the guilty punished and the innocent walk free...
The hard fact is that none of us truly know what happened.
BUT, to be able to take part in this trial in our own way and share opinions has been enlightening to say the least.
None of us truly know what happened
so we have to allow the system to work and take the results and move on...
Even if you loathe our judicial system, it is what we have and its better than most of the world's options in a case like this...
Let us be glad we are blessed to be in a place where we have the opportunity to take trespassers to task and to have a fair shot at defending ourselves should we find land in a similar position.
Whatever side your have chosen to believe, one thing is for certain...
We have taken part in a very interesting and educational 'happening' in being able to freely comment on this trial...
It has been real !
Thank Goodness for Freedom! We are all truly blessed!
soccerjox- I am a Christian! That's why I said the killer would burn in hell, because he hasn't confessed, or repented! No one with the Holy Spirit in them could commit such a henious murder!
Re-Hudsonite....That was a very good statement you made..I have thoroughly enjoyed this blog and the freedom we have in expressing ourselves..
We must all understand we have not heard or seen all the evidence pertaining to this case. We are not in the courtroom. However this forum has made for great discussion and theorizing on the trial and the outcome that will inevitably come. With that in mind everyone should quit arguing because it will get you nowhere or help those involved..Some posts have been humorous and others quite educated in theory...It has been quite a delight to partake in this blog Jennifer has presented us with...My thanks to her, great job Jennifer...
ublogit I didn’t say that you were not a Christian, nor did I mean to question your beliefs. I was just making the statement that whoever did this crime whether it was Jerry or someone else "if" they confess their crime and pray the sinner's prayer and ask for forgiveness they too will be forgiven and accepted into the kingdom of heaven. I apologize if you mis understood my statement. I would never question anyone’s religious belief that is between them and God.
One thing I have learned from lifes expierence is that the two things you never should discuss or argue over are Politics and Religion.....It is a losing battle that is never really won by either side...Think about it...The trial itself has nothing to do with either topic only guilt or innocence on the defendants behalf.

KW - You should be ashamed of yourself for saying Emily had a questionable past. The only thing Emily did wrong was make bad choices when it came to men. So what if she was married several times! That doesn't make her a bad person. She was a loving sister and aunt. She was caring and compassionate, kindhearted, a great friend, and she would never have judged someone she didn't know soley by what she heard others say. Shame on you.
Please understand, I mean no ill will against either Emily, or Jerry, but...one never know's what's goin' on inside the head of another person, as has been shown in many, many trials where the defendant was a pillar of the community, or the "victim" was a saint, publically, or in the company of family/friends.
