The day's over with no verdict
Well folks, it is 5 p.m. The judge is letting the jurors go home for the day. I guess that means we will be back tomorrow. Will a decision come tomorrow? I hope so. I think we all want to know - probably not as bad as Jerry or Emily's family. I wonder what this means - can they not all agree? I guess not. They've had the case for deliberations for 4 hours and 15 minutes.
This is hard for everyone. It really shouldn't be about sides. Anyone who cares about either of them just wants justice. Everyone involved deserves justice.
You know what I realized. Tomorrow is Friday the 13th. I am not big into superstitions, but isn't that just odd, especially if a verdict comes back. Will it be a curse for Jerry, or will 13 become his lucky number? We'll see. I will be back in the morning.

If the jury do\not send Jerry home well no one should go home. The state did a very bad job on this one. that did as good as that could.

This being my last comment until a "verdict" is reached I will keep it lengthy...
ret-investigator,your comments have been concise, precise, educated and unbiased,I commend you for that. Out of all the commentators here you have proven to be unjudgemental. We need more unjudgemental people in the world. Your prospective on this case intrigued me.
Watching this case evolve since the time of Emily's disappearance has also intrigued me. Hearing rumors and rumors of rumors along with reading local papers all made it more interesting. The internet has made it even more interesting. What a wild forum the net has brought about. We speak to one another anonimously without fear behind our screens.
In my own opinion the investigation was poor. The presentation on behalf of the prosecution was poor and inconclusive. Their closing statement was damning in theory and the last statement the jury heard. It was the best prosecutory manuever I have seen yet. My opinion is based on the media just as everyone.No-one in here can say they know the truth. All we can do is speculate. The murderer and the victim are the only ones that know the truth. It is ultimately left to the jurors. they themselves have no idea who did it. Their opinion will be based on the same emotions we all have as humans. What they saw with their own eyes, heard with their own ears and what they feel in their own hearts is the right thing to do..No one can change that...
Tomorrow is a much anticipated day by many people...Including myself.....
To continue my theory on “Well here’s what really happened:” previous blog comment 3
The Oil filters had me confused for a while and then somebody mentioned he didn’t own the equipment, he leased it. Well anybody that has leased a car knows you have to keep records and receipts of the scheduled maintenance on leased vehicles’. With Emily going missing and Christmas Holidays just over I believe he missed the scheduled maintenance and had the workers back date the filters to keep the records looking correct. Now the defense could have brought in somebody to talk about maintenance records, but admitting you forged documents would probably do more harm than good.
The worker said he was ordered to clean the tractor, if you killed somebody would you leave it to somebody else to clean up, I don’t think so. And the workers didn’t say there was anything unusual on the tractor.
The gun shots, well on a hot summer day and if the wind is blowing in the right direction I couldn’t go outside because of the smell from the dairy. It’s not unusual to here gunshots in the area. The South Caldwell high School FFA Shooting club has a shooting range just west of the Anderson farm. Good squirrel hunting woods off the May road, so I consider the gun shots an every day occurrence.
Yep! My theory is the only one that makes since and uses all the evidence presented from both sides.
The Man with the mullet haircut and the man in the brown Van did it!
If Jerry is an innocent man, why did he not confess his innocence at the trial?
Speaking of alternate theories, look at this news this evening from CNN:
Serial killer may be Tennessee trucker, police say
Police said Thursday that a Tennessee truck driver gave statements implicating himself in six murders in four states after Detective Sgt. Pat Postiglione discovered apparent blood inside the cab of his rig, police said.
...
Mendenhall implicated himself in the death of Symantha Winters, 48, of Nashville, who was found shot to death June 6 in a trash container at a Lebanon, Tennessee, truck stop, police said.
He also implicated himself in a homicide in Alabama, one in Georgia and two in Indiana, the statement said. Those victims were not named.

What if....
Wasn't Emily's body found just across the street from a very large truck stop?
who was the woman that was thrown out of court. Was that you allilson or Patty R.? I two am glad to see this nearly over. I think Dubbs is the one who came up with all the outlandish defense. I do not believe that anyone else was involved in this murder except Jerry and the mexicans backed the proscuters up with their testimonies. Your wrong Craig abot shots beind fired everyday around the farm. I had not heard any shots for weeks until that day.
I do not believe that he led her into those woods for any rason but to kill her.And that's that.
May be they will find him guilty and then you all can finnally get off this blog and get back to your families. If I had a family I would not spend my time on a computer I would be spending time with them.Holding them close to me, because it is a scary world out there.
Ret-Investigator
Thanks for your comments! I think that some folks that knew what was happening between Emily and Jerry were afraid of reporting what they knew. Others just didn't want to get involved. Yet we blame everything on the CCPD and DA. Now let me first say that both the DA and investigators appear to be inadaquately trained. But, since this has gone to the jury, I have heard of things that might have been helpful in this investigation. I believe you to be a knowledgable person...Perhaps you should be a consultant to Caldwell County Sheriff's Office and to the DA. Some people in NC seem to think that I dislike the good people in Sawmills. I think that there are so many good folks there that should standup and tell what they know...not what they think...but what they have witnessed. Ret-Investigator this has been an experience I will not soon forget. And to you and the good people of NC, I say thanks for bringing some sense to this forum. I have at times, almost lowered myself to the level of those who just want to stir ________. But, you for one, have always been above doing that. Have a great day and we will wait for the verdict (How ever it comes back)
Lee...
Your remarks about "GROUPIES" and manson followers is the biggest as you like to refer to as Stir_______ comments I have read yet. Those were the people out looking for Emily, where were you??? All through-out this blog your comments have been un called for and just DUMB. If you and your wife knew bad things were happening between Jerry and Emily, once again where were you? And for you being a "KNOWLEDGEABLE PERSON" what a joke. Leave the good people of Sawmills alone. We sure don't want or need people like you in our community!!!
I will tell you this, after reading and re-reading all of these posts I have come to the conclusion that we have some very hateful people on this blog. I thought this was a forum to discuss the case? It seems that some are either going to bash and convict Jerry Anderson without seeing and hearing all of the evidence and some of you are going to bash and speak ill of Emily as well as the friends and family of both. You guys just need to step back and ask yourself what good am I doing by bashing another person?
"Beyond a shadow of a doubt." The Defense did their job with me that is for sure. I guess you could say the Prosecution did too! Actually the Prosecution played more of a role in my decesion than the defense did.
soccerjox, you hit the nail on the head. This forum just proves why I stay away from this stuff. There are so many hateful and spiteful people out there and if I were to belong to something like this, I would most likely become like one of them. I've tried to keep any mean and hurtful things to myself and it amazes me that people hide behind usernames and computer screens to throw mud at others. There is a life on the line here and another life has been lost. I have no clue who carried out this terrible deed and I'm thankful I am not on the jury to decide the fate of another human being's life. No bad deed goes unpunished and if the killer is not caught or punished in this trial (not judging Jerry at all) then 'what comes around goes around' and it will be found out eventually. I like what Moses said in the Bible (paraphrased): "Be sure your sins will find you out".
To the good people of Sawmills,
You are indeed good people. Reunite and put things back in order in the community. I think that is what Emily would want to happen.
Snuggsgirl,
You are the dividing force of that community. No other comments!

Excuse me Lee....
Once again!! Leave the good people of Sawmills alone.
I just pray that God has his hand over this jury. This is a huge burden to place on them. They are deciding for a man's life or death. I, myself have never thought for one minute that Jerry did it, but I wasn't there so I can't know for sure. I am just upset that the things that were left undone in this investigation have gotten us no where in understanding what really happened to Emily. If Jerry did it and is let go then there is no justice, if he didn't do it and he is sentenced then there is no justice. If the real killer is still out there, there is no justice. Emily was such a sweet loving person that didn't deserve what happened to her. The only relief I have gotten from this is
that I know God took her to a much better place. I am really appreciative that Jennifer has been updating this trial every day. I haven't been able to go to the courthouse so it has been nice to be able to have somewhere to keep up with everything going on. Thank you for your dedication and work.
The ineptitude of the ccsd should show us all what a piss-poor excuse for a sheriff gary clark was.
goshdarn - you shouldn't insult the dead.
You have to remember that this started right after Gary was diagnosed. I knew Gary, and know many of the LEO's, and some of the civilians that got drug into this. I know the investigators to be good people, and experienced officers. I just have to believe that their hearts weren't in the game, and that maybe the prblem was a lack of leadership with Gary being ill. I don't really have an answer as to why so much was missed. I'm afraid that the personal cost to the members of the Sheriff's Office will be high.
When we elected this incompetent red neck moron we got what we deserved.
Now if Jerry had been a drug dealer, clark and the boys would have been more careful in their investigation.
goshdarn - you're an idiot. Did you know Gary Clark? Probably not! He was a good man, did he make mistakes yes he did, no one is denying that but you shouldn't talk about things that you know nothing about.
